Dongguan University of Technology (DGUT) is a public research university in Dongguan, Guangdong, China. It was founded in 1990 and approved by the former State Education Commission in 1992. It was upgraded to a full-time undergraduate institution by the Ministry of Education in 2003, and authorized to confer bachelor’s degrees in 2006. It passed the undergraduate teaching evaluation by the Ministry of Education in 2008, and joined the first batch of “Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program” by the Ministry of Education in 2010. It was selected as a key high-level university of applied science in Guangdong Province in 2015, and approved as a master’s degree granting institution in 2018. It was designated as a new high-level university of applied science jointly supported by Guangdong Province and Dongguan City in 2019, and selected as the first batch of national intellectual property pilot universities in 2020. It was approved as a doctoral degree granting institution in 2021. DGUT is proud to have Dr. Chen-Ning Yang, a Nobel Laureate in Physics, as its Honorary President.

DGUT has five campuses in three cities: Guancheng Campus and Songshan Lake Campus in Dongguan, Nancheng Campus and Humen Campus in Foshan, and Shenzhen Campus in Shenzhen. The total campus area is about 2,000 hectares, with modern facilities and abundant greenery. The Songshan Lake Campus, which is the main campus, is located near the Songshan Lake Science and Technology Park, and has a typical South China Lingnan architecture style.

DGUT is a comprehensive multidisciplinary university, covering the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, engineering, medicine, management, and art. It has 23 schools and departments, offering 59 undergraduate programs, 18 diploma programs, and 36 master’s programs. These programs cover nine discipline categories, such as engineering, physics, liberal arts, social sciences, environmental science, biology, chemistry, computer science, business, mathematics, psychology, economics, art and design. DGUT has a strong faculty team of over 1,700 members, including 1,000 full-time teachers, 400 professors and associate professors, and 300 doctoral and master’s degree holders. DGUT also has a large student body of over 30,000 full-time students and 10,000 adult students.

DGUT has achieved remarkable results in scientific research and social service. It has undertaken over 2,000 scientific research projects at various levels, published over 10,000 academic papers and 200 books, and obtained over 400 patents and awards. DGUT has also established extensive cooperation and exchange with over 100 universities and institutions from more than 30 countries and regions, such as the United States, Canada, Australia, Japan, South Korea, Germany, France, and Hong Kong. DGUT has a rich and vibrant campus life, with various student organizations and activities that cater for different interests and specialties, ranging from science and technology to art, culture and sport.
