Hangzhou City University (HZCU) is a public university located in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, China. It was established in 2020 by the Hangzhou City Government, after being approved by the Ministry of Education. It is a comprehensive university with distinctive features in engineering, science, management, and humanities.
HZCU offers a variety of academic programs at different levels, including four primary disciplines that confer doctoral degrees, 23 secondary disciplines that confer doctoral degrees, 13 professional doctoral programs, 28 primary disciplines that confer master’s degrees, 153 secondary disciplines that confer master’s degrees, 24 professional master’s programs, and 87 undergraduate programs. HZCU has about 1,800 full-time faculty members, including 500 professors and associate professors, and more than 1,200 teachers with master’s or doctoral degrees. HZCU also has 10 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, 12 Cheung Kong Scholars and winners of the National Outstanding Youth Science Fund, and 11 national experts with outstanding contributions.
HZCU has about 30,000 undergraduate students and 4,000 postgraduate students from 31 provinces and municipalities across China.
